SIOUX FALLS -- After their last match was canceled due to the weather, the University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team is getting back on the court this upcoming weekend, March 27-28, in Bismarck, ND.
The Cougars, which sit 3-3, will travel to face MSU Moorhead on Sat., March 27 at 1:00 pm and UMary on Sun., March 28 at 1:00 pm. USF is 3-2 in the NSIC and sixth in the standings.
MSU Moorhead is 7-0 coming into the match, with a 5-2 win over UMary on March 13 in Bismarck, ND. They are currently on a seven-match winning streak. The Cougars are 3-5 against the Dragons all-time, with USF winning three matches, including one home match and two away matches. USF's last home win over MSU Moorhead was Feb. 21, 2016 by a 5-4 count.
UMary sits at 5-2 this season, after a 5-2 loss against MSU Moorhead on March 13, and a 4-3 win over Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 28. In the all-time series with Mary, the Cougars have a 3-6 record with two home wins. In their most recent match, USF took a 4-3 loss on Feb. 10, 2019 in Bismarck, ND.
Quick Review – USF now 3-3 has won 3-of-4 matches
After falling to DI South Dakota, 7-1, on Feb. 3, the Cougars dropped a 5-2 decision at Winona State, in a match which USF battled the Warriors, picked third in the NSIC Preseason Coaches poll, throughout the contest. USF then went on to defeat Minnesota Duluth 5-2 on Feb. 20 in the Cougar's home opener, and defeated SCSU 4-3 on Feb. 21.
In the 5-2 decision over Minnesota-Duluth, USF picked up its first win of the season.
In their most recent match, the Cougars dropped a 7-0 decision to Augustana on Sun., Feb. 28 at GreatLife-Woodlake. In a match that was rescheduled from Feb. 21 postponement, the Cougars battled all day but fell short against the defending NSIC champions.
As a team, the Cougars are 15-21 overall with a 15-15 in NSIC competition in singles. They stand 9-9 overall and 9-6 in the NSIC in doubles.

Lexi Miller at No. 3 singles is 3-3 overall and 3-2 in league play. At No. 1,
Megan Quandt is 2-4 overall and 2-3 in NSIC matches. At No. 2 singles, freshman
Talia Janos is 2-4 overall and 2-3 in league competition. No.4/5
Danielle Thorfinnson, a freshman, is 2-3 overall and 2-2 in league competition. At No. 5/6, senior
Rachel Klatt is 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the NSIC.
USF's No. 1 doubles team of Janos/Quandt is 4-2 overall and 4-1 in NSIC. At No. 2, J. Thorfinnson/D. Thorfinnson is 2-3 with 2-2 league mark. At No. 3, Miller/Klatt is 1-2 overall and in league play while Ambrosio/Cueto/Miller is 0-2 at No. 3.
USF picked 5th in NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll
USF has been picked to finish fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll which was released by the league office on Tuesday, Feb. 2. A year ago, USF, which was 8-5 before the CoVID-19 pandemic ended the season, finished 43-33 in singles with a 33-15 record before the CoVID-19 pandemic ended the 2020 season. USF was also 21-17 in doubles with a 16-7 league record. USF advanced to the semifinals of the NSIC Championships in 2018-19.
