Eighty-eight student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC for the spring sports season

60 percent of USF's Academic All-NSIC honorees named to the NSIC's Academic Team of Excellence for plus 3.6 GPAs

BURNSVILLE, MINN. – Eighty-eight University of Sioux Falls student-athletes have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2021 spring season, according to an announcement today from the league office.

The 88 student-athletes honored represents the second largest total during spring period in USF's DII era. In addition, USF also had a program-high 52 student-athletes (noted by *) named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. With that total for the spring sports, USF had a total of 153 honored in 2019-20. In addition, USF has had 1,366 student-athletes named academic all-league since joining the league in 2012.

In an announcement on May 26, the NSIC unveiled the names of 943 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC and another 577 selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for GPAs of 3.6 or better.  

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.  

"We are extraordinarily pleased and proud of our student-athletes who were honored this spring and during 2021," said USF Director of Athletics Pam Gohl. "This past year has been a challenging time but our USF student-athletes have stepped up to excel at a high level in competition and the classroom while also fulfilling a mission in community service. We are exceptionally pleased with their dedication to their respective sports and their commitment to studies," she said.

Roskowiak earned All-Academic honors for a fourth time while Meyer, Graham and Reese earned their third honors. Livingston, Bernardy, Hubers, Coyle, King, and Emerson earned their second honor. Livingston, and Roskowiak earned their second Academic Team of Excellence honors while French, Bertram, Meyer, Reese and Blackburn were also named to the Academic Team of Excellence.

Mickelson was recognized for a fourth straight year. Uitts, Van Beek and Cheloha were recognized for their third honors. Klassen, Straight, and Swift earned their second all-academic honors. Mickelson, and Van Beek earned their third straight NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence honor while Straight was named for a second time as Running, Klassen, Swift and Senger were named for the first time.

Earning their fourth straight All-NSIC honor are Cooney, Bassing, Oetsmann and Zosel. Woodall, Eggebraaten and Evans were named academic all-league for a second time. Cooney earned this third straight NSIC Academic Team of Excellence honor, while Woodall and Zosel were named for a second time and Eggebraaten for the first time.

Earning her fourth straight Academic All-League honor was Hanson while Hubbard, Jonas and Moran were named to their third straight all academic squad.  Hanson, Hubbard, Moran and Jonas earned selection to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for a third straight year.

Klatt and Applegate were named for the second time to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence with Quandt, Thorfinnson and Ambrosio-Cueto named for a first time.
