SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Former University of Sioux Falls Baseball pitcher Ryan Patrick has signed with the Sioux City Canaries.

Patrick, who was 3-4 with eight strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings at USF from 2016-17, has a 2-1 record with his third team in independent baseball. With the Canaries, Patrick has made one appearance and allowed one hit and no runs in a 6-3 loss to Lincoln on July 18.
"It is a blessing to be back at the Birdcage (Sioux Falls Stadium)," said Patrick, originally of McKinleyville, Calif., who joined the USF program from the College of Redlands in 2016. "We were fortunate enough in 2017 at USF to have the Birdcage as our home field. Therefore, I feel at home here. The Canaries have a great tradition in Sioux Falls and I look forward to being part of that team as we head into the second half of the season," he said.
Prior to joining the Sioux Falls Canaries, he pitched with Trinidad of the Pecos League where he was 1-1 with a 1.80 earned run average while working 20 innings across 15 games and registering 14 strikeouts.. He also pitched with Salina of the Pacific Association, where he had a 4.50 earned run average in two innings of work.
Patrick and the Canaries will face the Sioux City Explorers from July 20-22 with each game set for a 7:05 (CST) pm opening pitch at the Birdcage. Then on July 23-25, the Canaries host the Lincoln (Neb.) Saltdogs.
