Nick Moen named Assistant AD for Internal Operations at USF

SIOUX FALLS – University of Sioux Falls Director of Athletics Pam Gohl has announced the hiring of Nick Moen as the Assistant Athletic Director of Internal Operations.

Moen joins USF with a wealth of experience in athletics and hospitality. In his role at USF, Moen will have duties including business operations (credit cards, budget, purchase orders, check requests, invoices); oversee ticketing for football, basketball, volleyball and soccer; coordinate game day workers; supervise work study students, assistant in game day operations, support external relations; and serve as the sports contact in sports information for soccer and softball.

"We are excited for Nick (Moen) to join our staff and bring his outstanding track record of experience and knowledge to USF Athletics," said Gohl. "With his high energy and upbeat demeanor, Nick is a welcomed addition to our staff."

A 2009 graduate of Viterbo University in Lacrosse, WI., Moen had his baseball career cut short by injury. He quickly transitioned from playing baseball to coaching. He spent many years coaching high school baseball in his home state of Minnesota, including winning a state championship with Mounds View High School. He also coached summer baseball with Centennial High School, and helped develop young athletes in the off-season with an elite club baseball organization. In 2015, he moved to Portland, Ore., when he helped lead Lincoln HS to a conference title. He also joined the front office staff of a collegiate wood bat league team, the Portland Pickles of the West Coast League during the off-season of their inaugural season.

In 2017, he began working for Marriott International as an Assistant Director of Finance. He continued to work for Marriott after moving to Asbury Park, N.J., where he was in management of hotel operations. He worked with groups from Big Ten Football, large pharmaceutical companies, and government groups.

Over the past six years Moen has served as a Remote Baseball Scout for Inside Edge, a leading data and analytics scouting service partnering with Major League Baseball clubs. In 2020, Nick took on the role as the General Manager of the Sioux Falls Sunfish, a summer collegiate baseball team who played their inaugural season in 2021. The team consisted of 32 players who were recruited from around the country to spend the summer in Sioux Falls where the Sunfish played 64 games over a 2 ½ month season this past summer.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the USF athletic administration staff, said Moen, who lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Ruth, and daughters, Elin and Greta. "I'm excited to be working alongside student athletes, coaches, and faculty members every day who value academic and athletic success both on and off the field. I'm grateful Pam has given me the opportunity to make an impact and be a part of the great staff she has in place at USF," added Moen.
