SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls volleyball team hosted the Dragons of Minnesota State-Moorhead today where the Cougars took the match three sets to none. The Cougars now move to 12-8 on the season whereas the Dragons fall to 5-16.
USF vs MSUM (25-23, 25-21, 25-21)
· Attack: The Cougars were led by outside hitter, Sadie Voss today where she landed 12 kills on the day. Jordan Hamm (10) and Courtney Holsteen (9) also helped lead the Coo to a .341 attacking percentage while holding the Dragons to a .250.
· Service Line: USF drew six aces on the day led by Sadie Voss (4), Davis Guetterman (1) and Elise Gillen (1).
· Team Effort: Sioux Falls rallied together to sweep Moorhead 3-0 today. Elise Gillen (31) and Davis Guetterman (19) continue to pave the way in the assists column for the Cougars with a combined total of 50 on the day and 785 throughout their first season as Cougars. Gillen sits at 480 career assists while Guetterman has dished out 305 of her own. The Cougars put up 60 digs on the day led by Sadie Voss with 15. Caitlin Kellner and Nicole Jacobson also picked up 10 digs of their own.
· Standing Tall: USF put down eight assisted blocks and one solo block against the Dragons led by sophomore, Jordan Kuper with 3 on the day. Brooklynne Albrecht and Jordyn Hamm also played a big role in USFs defensive scheme with two blocks of their own.
Overall
· Sioux Falls was able to bounce back and sweep the Dragons today to advance to 12-8 on the season and 8-5 in the NSIC.
· USF outscored the Dragons 75-65 today with 57 total kills on 123 attacks.
· The Cougars will hit the road to take on the (#1) Wildcats of Wayne State on Thursday. First serve is set for 6:00pm at Rice Aditorium in Wayne, Nebraska.
