WAYNE – The USF volleyball team fell to the No. 1 Wayne State Wildcats 3-1 tonight moving to 12-9 on the season.
USF at WSC (16-25, 30-28, 12-25, 21-25)
· Attack: USF landed 50 kills on the Wildcats led by freshman, Courtney Holsteen with 15 on the night. Sadie Voss (10), Nicole Jacobson (9) and Jordan Kuper combined for 27 of the Cougars kills.
· Service Line: Jordyn Hamm tallied a season high of three aces for the Cougars while Kuper, Jacobson and Voss each landed one of their own.
· Team Effort: Elise Gillen dished out 29 assists on the night followed by Davis Guetterman with 12. Caitlin Kellner (17), Voss (15) and Jacobson (13) combined for 45 of the Cougars 74 digs on the evening.
· Standing Tall: The Cougars put down seven blocks on the Wildcats led by Jordyn Hamm (5), Sadie Voss (4) and Nicole Jacobson (2).
Overall
· USF handed Wayne State their fourth NSIC set loss and their seventh on the season. Wayne State currently sits at 72 sets won out of 79 sets played.
· Thus far in the season, the Cougars are led by:
o Courtney Holsteen – 222 Kills
o Elise Gillen – 509 Assists
o Elise Gillen, Jordyn Hamm and Sadie Voss – 22 Aces
o Sadie Voss – 231 Digs
o Jordyn Hamm – 73.0 Blocks
· USF will look to bounce back as they host Augustana this Saturday at 2:00pm in the Stewart Center.
