MINOT – The USF volleyball team swept Minot State earlier today sweeping the weekend and advancing to 11-7 on the season. The Cougars now advance to 14-4 against the Beavers since their first meeting in 2010.
USF at Minot State – (25-16, 25-19, 25-10)
· Attack: The attacking game was led by sophomore, Grace Hanel with 13 kills on the day followed by Courtney Holsteen (8) and Sadie Voss (6). The three accounted for 27 of USFs 37 kills and helped the Coo maintain an attacking percentage of .226.
· Service Line: The Cougars put up 10 aces on the day while only allowing one from the Beavers. Jordan Kuper accounted for four of those aces with Elise Gillen and Sadie Voss each landing two of their own.
· Team Effort: Elise Gillen accounted for 23 of USFs 33 assists on the day with Davis Guetterman adding seven of her own for the Cougars. Sadie Voss (13), Caitlin Kellner (12) and Jordan Kuper (6) led Sioux Falls in digs tallying 31 of the Cougars 44 digs on the day.
· Standing Tall: Hanel also led the blocking game today with four of USFs six total blocks. Jordyn Hamm (3) and Brooklynne Albrecht (1) also assisted in the Cougars blocking efforts on the day.
Overall
· The Cougars averaged a .226 attacking percentage on the day with 37 kills, 44 digs and 75 total points on the day all while keeping the Beavers to just 45 points and a .040 attacking percentage.
· USF sits sixth in the NSIC standings just above cross-town rival, Augustana, with a conference record of 7-4.
· Sioux Falls will look to host Northern State and MSU – Moorhead next weekend at home. Friday night the Cougars will host the Wolves for their Professor Appreciation Night with first serve scheduled for 6:00pm at the Stewart Center. USF will host Moorhead on Saturday with first serve scheduled for 2:00pm.
