BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Twenty-seven student-athletes from the University of Sioux Falls have earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Winter All-Academic honors, as announced today (Wednesday, March 16) by the league office. Of that total, 15 USF student-athletes were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence (3.6 GPA).The USF honored student-athletes were among 758 announced Academic All-NSIC by the league office for the 2021-22 winter athletic season.
To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher.
Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
During the 10 years in the NSIC, USF has had 494 Academic All-NSIC honorees from winter sports programs as well as 507 in the fall and 629 student-athletes. Those totals include Women's Indoor Track and Field, 188; Men's Indoor Track and Field, 153; Women's Basketball, 63; Women's Swimming, 54; and Men's Basketball, 46. Overall, USF has had 1,630 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC since joining the league in 2012. USF honorees include (NSIC Academic Team of Excellence honorees marked with asterisk*).

Slater and Thompson earned NSIC Academic Team of Excellence honors, Slater received his fourth straight honor, while Thompson received his second honor.

Lauren Sanders, Sr., Millard, Neb.
James earned her third Academic All-NSIC Team honor, while Sanders received her second.

Honored for a fourth straight year was Marcon. Spaans was named Academic All-NSIC for a third straight year and also earned her third straight Team of Excellence award. Kennedy was named Academic All-NSIC and to the Team of Excellence for a second straight year. Mullvain, Burrows and Ford were named for a second time while Demarqet earned her first Academic All-NSIC honor.
