Katelyn Nesheim and
Emily Applegate, the University of Sioux Falls Tennis Team (10-8, 5-5
NSIC) lost a hard-fought battle with Upper Iowa (9-6, 6-4
NSIC) in falling, 5-2, on Senior Night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Saturday, April 9 at the
Huether Family Match Pointe.
With the setback, USF fell to 5-5 in league play and now stands 10-8 overall.

A playing shorthanded for a second straight night, the Cougars fought hard in both singles and doubles against UIU.

Match Summary -
At No. 5 singles,
Katelyn Nesheim took a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Padmasree Murugan of Upper Iowa. With the victory, Nesheim improved to a team-best 12-4 on the season with her seventh win in 10 matches. At No. 6 singles, USF had a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) win by
Emily Applegate, who bettered Elaina Wall. Applegate is now 2-1 on the season. Nesheim teammed up with
Emily Thinnsen to win at No. 3 doubles in a 6-0 win over Murugan/Wall. As a result, they are now 7-5 overall in doubles and 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
In other doubles action, the No. 1 team of
Megan Quandt and
Peyton Forney dropped a 6-3 decision while
Joelle Thorfinnson/
Danielle Thorfinnson, lost a heart-breaker in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-1).
In singles. Quandt lost at No. 1 singles, 6-2 (retired). At No. 2 singles,
Danielle Thorfinnson fell by a 6-3, 6-3 decision while
Joelle Thorfinnson dropped a 6-2, 2-6, 2-6 decisions and
Emily Thinnsen fell at No. 4, 6-4, 6-4.
