Seventy-three USF Athletics student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC

USF also had 44 named to the NSIC's Academic Team of Excellence

BURNSVILLE, MINN. – Seventy-three University of Sioux Falls student-athletes have been named to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team for the 2022 spring season, according to an announcement today from the league office.

USF also had 44 student-athletes (noted by *) named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. With that total for the spring sports, USF had a total of 147 student-athletes honored in 2021-22 with NSIC All-Academic honors. Also, USF had 83 student-athletes named to the NSIC Academic Team of Excellence. Since joining the league in 2012, USF has had 1,703 student-athletes named to the NSIC's All-Academic squad.  

In an announcement on May 26, the NSIC unveiled the names of 865 student-athletes named Academic All-NSIC and another 533 selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence for GPAs of 3.6 or better.  

"We are proud of our student-athletes who were honored this spring and throughout 2021-22," said USF Director of Athletics Pam Gohl. "Our USF student-athletes have stepped up to excel at a high level in competition and the classroom while also fulfilling a mission in community service. They have exhibited a high level of dedication to their respective sports and their commitment to studies," she said.

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher. Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.

Graham earned his fourth honor. Hubers, King, and Emerson earned their third honor all league while Buss was recognized for a second straight year. Binsfeld, Haphey, Schumacher, Shastay, Ditmarson, Bonner, Lundgren, Cate, Maslowski and Gulbrandson earned their first honor.  French, Bertram, King, Lung, Blackburn were also named to the Academic Team of Excellence for a second time. Binsfeld, Haphey, Schumacher, Hubers and Shastay were recognized for the first time on the Academic Team of Excellence.

Oetzmann and Eggebraaten earned their third straight All-Academic honor while Eggebraaten picked up his third straight Academic Team of Excellence recognition.

Straight received her fourth honor while Swift and Van Der Zwaag earned their third all-academic honors. Straight and Swift earned their third straight NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence honor while Vander Zwaag was named for a second time.
