SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – USF graduate student Thuro Reisdorfer and junior Amaurii Grosskopf were named to the NSIC Watch List announced earlier today.
Reisdorfer (Sioux Falls, SD) graduated from the University of Sioux Falls with a degree in exercise science and is currently pursuing his MBA. During the 2021 season, Reisdorfer rushed for 1,114 yards with 174 carries and 10 rushing touchdowns. The 2021 first team All-NSIC athlete and Don Hansen All-American helped lead the Cougars to an 8-3 season. Throughout his career thus far, Reisdorfer has been named to the All-NSIC second team (2019), nominated for the Harlon Hill DII Player of the Year Award (2021), named a Don Hansen All-American (2021), and received first team All-NSIC honors (2021).
"I am very excited about this year's version of The Coo," stated Coach Anderson. "We have a good number of returning starters coming back who have had a productive offseason. If we combine that with good depth at quite a few positions; this team is hungry to accomplish its goals. We know Thuro will be a great leader on and off the field and can't wait to see where he and this team take us."
Grosskopf (Beloit, WI) will be entering his junior year of eligibility with the Cougars this season as he pursues his degree in Psychology. During the 2021 season, Grosskopf played in all 11 games recording 24 tackles and 4 for a loss. Grosskopf has totaled 63 tackles and 38 solo stops in his career including 39 tackles, 22 solo stops, and 4 pass breakups during his 2019 campaign. Grosskopf was named to the 2021 All-NSIC second team as a redshirt sophomore and continues to pose a threat to any offense.
"Amaurii had an outstanding season last fall and made an impact in every game he played in as an All-NSIC performer," said Coach Jon Anderson. "He's good against the run game and brings an interior pass rush with a big motor. He's a strong leader in the weight room and on the field, Amaurii will have a great season."
The NSIC also announced it's 2022 Preseason Coaches' Poll earlier today where the Cougars earned two first place votes, yet found themselves tied for fourth with Minnesota State at 142 points. Augustana landed the #1 spot in the overall NSIC Coaches Poll with 153 votes as well as #1 in the NSIC South Division with 32 points. The Cougars will start the season ranked 3rd in the South Division with 27 points followed by Winona State, Wayne State, Upper Iowa, and SMSU.
