SIOUX FALLS – The University of Sioux Falls women's basketball team picked up their second win of the weekend against Minnesota State – Moorhead earlier today. The Cougars came away with a 56-48 victory and advance to 6-12 on the year.
WHAT HAPPENED
· USF opened today's game down 5-0, but quickly regained their footing on a 6-0 run against the Dragons.
· Sioux Falls continued to play an aggressive game going into the half tied at 22.
· Behind sophomore guard Olivia Gamoke, the Cougars broke out for a 21 point third quarter ultimately sealing the Cougars 2-0 weekend.
SIOUX FALLS LEADERS
· Olivia Gamoke and Lizzie Olson led USF in scoring with 13 points on the day with Olson picking up her season and career high.
· Lauren Sanders pulled down nine of the Cougars 37 boards while Madison Wuebben added seven of her own.
· Gamoke added four assists, four steals and two blocks to today's game and led in each of those categories.
TEAM STATISTICS
· Sioux Falls went 24-52 from the field today while going 6-11 from the free throw line.
· The Cougars led today's game for just over 28 minutes while facing five lead changes and producing their largest lead of 12 points.
· USF saw 24 of their points come from their bench and 12 points off of 13 MSUM turnovers.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will be back in action next weekend as they host Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State at home. Next weekend the men's team will play first followed by the women's team for the remaining of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm on Friday following the men's game.
