Aberdeen, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team lost to Northern State today 53-49 in a hotly contested non-conference game.
The Coo came out hot in the first half. They won the first quarter 15-4 and lost the second quarter 16-15. In the first quarter, the Cougars shot 50% from the field and made 1 3. The Wolves shot 18% and didn't make a 3. NSU caught fire in the second quarter shooting 50% from both the field and beyond the arc. USF also shot 50% from the field but did not make a 3 going 0-4.
The USF started to sputter in the 3rd quarter and that continued through the rest of the game. The Coo shot 36% from the field and 33% from 3 in the 3rd quarter, but in the 4th they shot 17% from the field and didn't make a 3 going 0-8. The Wolves were able to use this to their advantage in the 4th quarter. They struggled a bit in the 3rd shooting 16% from the field and 25% from 3, but in the 4th quarter they shot 46% from the field and 50% from 3 going 3-6. USF had more points in the paint with 24 compared to 18 from Nothern. The Wolves had 10 second chance points and the two teams were tied in the rebounding battle at 29.
LEADERS
Kami Wadsworth led all scorers with 16 points. Ayla Brown added 13 and Brecli Honner chipped in 11.
Riley Moreland led the Coo in rebounds with 8. Landree Wilson also added 4 boards.
Ayla Brown led the team in assists with 3 and Madison Wuebben added 2. Honner led all players with 38 minutes played followed by Brown with 37.

The Cougars will hit the road for their next game. They will take on Minnesota State Mankato starting at 7:30PM. This game will take place at the Bresnan Center on the campus of MSU Mankato.
