BURNSVILLE – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced the 2023 Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll yesterday with the Cougars pegged sixth.
Last season, Sioux Falls was picked seventh in the preseason poll finishing seventh in the conference with a loss to Winona State in the quarterfinals. This season the Cougars sit behind Augustana at first followed by Minnesota State, Winona State, Mary and SMSU.
"This year's team has a great combination of returning, highly motivated athletes and in-coming highly skilled freshmen wanting to contribute and continue the success we have had in the past," state head coach Kevin Grebin.
Junior, Talia Janos was named this season's athlete to watch for USF. The Florida native finished her 2022 singles season 6-9 overall and 3-5 in the NSIC while finishing her doubles season at an even 6-6 overall record and 4-3 in conference play.
"Talia brings a positive, high energy attitude to our team along with her great tennis skills," said Coach Grebin. "She is a very supportive teammate and works very positively to bring the best out of not only her tennis play, but her teammates as well."
