The Cougars were led by a surprise name in the first round as
Austin Boomsma shot a career best even-72 complete with 4 birdies and 10 pars to finish day 1 in the top-5. As a team the Cougars shot 16 over 304 which landed them in 5th place after day one. They trail Minnesota State who is tied for 2nd by just 4 strokes.
