Cougar Baseball Represented Across Premier Summer Baseball Leagues

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The USF Baseball team has had four athletes hit the summer collegiate wood bat leagues this summer with three of them in the Northwoods League and one in the Kansas Collegiate League Baseball organization.

The Northwoods League is one of the largest organized baseball leagues in the world with 23 teams and is known for their development of elite college baseball players. Tyler Cate, Noah Christenson and Isaac Bonner are representing USF as members of the Kokomo Jackrabbits out of Kokomo, Indiana. The three represent just six NSIC athletes on the team and 38 throughout the league.

Photo taken by the Kokomo JackrabbitsCate is currently batting a .283 in 41 games played for the Jackrabbits with 15 RBI and 32 walks drawn. As their leading second baseman, he's turned 21 double plays while putting out 73 runners and recording 126 assists.

Christenson has seen 108 at bats so far this season while maintaining a .250 batting average. He's brought in 12 runs while crossing the dish 16 times himself. ChristensonPhoto taken by the Kokomo Jackrabbits has drawn 19 walks for the Jackrabbits along with 27 hits, one double and one triple. In the field, he's seen 261 innings at shortstop where he's turned eight double plays.

Photo taken by the Kokomo JackrabbitsBonner has also seen some time at second base recording 141 innings and 20 games played thus far. Averaging a .207 batting average, Bonner has recorded 12 hits, one double and 11 walks while crossing the plate nine times this season.

Kansas Collegiate League Baseball is a premier summer collegiate baseball league based around the Greater Wichita Area and is made up of eight teams. Nolan Drossel is the loan Cougar representing the purple and white as a member of the Wellington Heat.

Drossel leads the Heat with a .375 batting average along with 28 singles, one double and three triples on the season. While leading the team with 19 RBI, Drossel has crossed the plate 23 timesDrossel, Nolan in 24 games played and stolen 13 bases thus far. In 166 innings played, he has turned seven double plays while recording 46 putouts and 50 assists.
