USF Men's Basketball Picked to Finish 7th: Noah Puetz Named Player to Watch

10/10/2024 10:30:00 AM

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The University of Sioux Falls Men's Basketball team was picked to finish 7th in the NSIC Preseason Poll. Minnesota State was picked by the league coaches in the NSIC Preseason Women's Basketball Poll.

The USF Women's Basketball team finished last year at 13-17 and 9-13 in conference play. Head Coach Crhis Johnson is ready to watch this team take the floor this year. "
We have a very tight knit group, they genuinely love playing together. I get excited about the fact that we have added depth, length and athleticism to this roster. We have 7 seniors, which helps immensely on the leadership front. I think we have multiple guys who can lead us in scoring on any given night, and I think we have the depth and talent to do multiple things on the defensive side of the ball. I'm excited to get going with this group."

Noah Puetz was named USF's Preseason Player to Watch. He averaged 11.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while playing an average of 25.7 minutes per game. "Noah has been a very important player to our program for the last 5 years, we ask a lot of him on both sides of the court," said Head Coach Chris Johnson. "He is a very good passer who makes those around him better, but he also has the ability to score as he was our second leading scorer a season ago. He has taken a bigger leadership role this year as well. He played his best basketball for us last year so far, and we expect another jump from him this season.

The Cougars open their season on Friday November 8. They take on Washburn in Kansas City, MO starting at 3PM. USF Men's Basketball will have their home opener on Saturday November 16 at 3PM.
