MATCH RECAP
The opening set saw both teams trading points early, with the set featuring four ties and three lead changes. Sadie Voss contributed two service aces for Sioux Falls in set one and five on the night.
The Cougars started strong, pushing the Vikings with aggressive serving and solid defensive coverage. Setter Elise Gillen connected well with hitters early while recording her 2,000th career assist.
Sioux Falls fought to regain control in the second set, but Augustana's tough serving disrupted the Cougars' flow. The team's hitting percentage dipped to .107 in the set as the offense struggled to capitalize on opportunities. Gillen continued to distribute well, finishing the match with 14 assists, while Aubrey Gates and Jordyn Hamm tried to shoulder the offensive load. Despite their best efforts, Augustana kept applying pressure with an efficient attack that stifled USF's momentum.
The Cougars showed grit in the third set while Hamm and Gates each found moments to shine, with Gates leading the team in kills (8) and Hamm adding 7. Faith Van Eck and Voss also provided steady contributions in the back row, digging tough attacks from the Vikings.
