USF Women's Wrestling Tabs Five Placers at Fort Hays States Bob Smith Women's Open

HAYS, KAN. - USF Women's Wrestling competed in the Fort Hays State Bob Smith Women's Open today while recording five placers. 

At 117-pounds, Rei Ogden opened the day with a bye before falling to Josiah Ortiz of Fort Hays State in a 14-6 decision. Ogden bounced back with a 0:49 pin over teammate Lanna Walter before falling to Isabell Ortiz of FHSU in the consolation semi-finals. Ogden closed out the day with a quick 0:30 pin over Josiah Ortiz to claim 5th place and advance to 10-5 on the season. 

Teila Peters picked up a 5th place finish at 124-pounds while advancing to 5-6 on the season. Peters fell to Lexy Basurto of Schreiner University in the quarterfinals before tech falling Rylie McCabe of Adams State, 10-0, and teammate Paige Denke, 12-2. Peters fell to Damiyah Smith of Oklahoma State before responding with a 1:31 pin over Bella Devoto of Adams State to close out the day. 

At 131-pounds, Mackenzie Armagost recorded a 6th place finish while going 3-2 on the day. Armagost fell to #20 Jamie Laswell of Fort Hays State before pinning Ivy Davis of Fort Hays and Brisa Salas of Adams State. Armagost fell to teammate Brinley Green and FHSUs Addison Brozterman to move to 6-7 on the season. 

Also at 131-pounds, #13 Brinley Green finished 3rd while going 4-1 on the day with three pins and a decision. With an opening round 3:23 pin over Ivy Davis of Fort Hays State and a 1:05 pin over Aaliah Guebara. Green fell to Amanda Jaeger of Fort Hays State in the semi-finals before winning her way back with a 2:26 pin over teammate Mackenzie Armagost and a 7-6 decision over #15 Jania Dunigan of Scheiner University to advance to 13-4 on the season. 

Kylie Hulse picked up a team high 2nd place finish at 160-pounds while going 3-1 on the day. Hulse opened the day with a 1:33 pin over Alex Coombs of Oklahoma State followed by a 1:44 pin over Adams State's Abby Smith and a 15-8 decision over Kaylee Ricketts of Fort Hays State. Hulse fell to Oklahoma State's Kaiulani Garcia in a tough 8-2 decision and moves to 8-3 on the year.

103 – Ava McNeal finished 1-2 on the day and sits 1-2 on the season 

103 – Kyla Schwager finished 1-2 on the day and sits 2-6 on the season 

117 – Rei Ogden finished 5th at 2-2 on the day and sits 10-5 on the season 

117 – Lanna Walter finished 1-2 on the day and sits 5-6 on the season 

124 – Paige Denke finished 1-2 on the day and sits 2-6 on the season 

124 – Teila Peters finished 5th at 3-2 on the day and 5-6 on the season 

131 – Mackenzie Armagost finished 6th at 2-3 on the day and 6-7 on the season 

131 – Brinley Green finished 3rd at 4-1 on the day and 13-4 on the season 

138 – Diann Smith finished 1-2 on the day and 5-6 on the season 

145 – Ciana Grate finished 1-2 on the day and 5-6 on the season 

160 – Kylie Hulse finished 2nd at 3-1 on the day and 8-3 on the season 

160 – Maizy Mathis finished 1-2 on the day and 3-4 on the season 

160 – Addaly Pals-Miller finished 0-2 on the day and 2-8 on the season
