EMPORIA, KAN. - Cougar Softball kicked off their weekend with a big, 9-0, win over Rockhurst University to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Sioux Falls jumped out early scoring three runs in the first. Hannah Fry scored Emma Barta on a sac fly before Megan Jochimsen and Riley Schwisow stole home for the Coo. USF went on to score a run in innings 2, 3 and 4 before closing the game out in five innings with three runs in the fifth.
Emma Barta and Riley Schwisow paved the way for the Cougars at the plate today. Barta went 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs and two walks while Schwisow went 3-for-4 with three runs and a stolen base. Fry and Makenzie Weber owned the Cougars two doubles on the day while Jochimsen, Schwisow and Weber were responsible for the three stolen bases
Maddi Duncan threw a complete five inning shutout with 10 strikeouts while giving up just two hits on the day. Duncan advances to 3-1 in the circle this season.
