USF Women's Basketball Falls Late Against Minot State

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team fell to Minot State 64-63. The Beavers took their first lead of the game with 20 seconds left in the 4th quarter. 

Both teams struggled in the first quarter. Minot took the opening period 7-4 while shooting 16% from the field and did not make a 3. USF also struggled offensively as they shot 25% from the field and also did not make a 3 point attempt. In the second period the Cougars turned on the offense as they shot 60% from the field and 50% from the 3 point line. The Coo continued their stifling defense holding Minot to 6% shooting from the field and 14% from the 3 point line. USF took the 2nd period 21-5 and took a 25-12 lead into the halftime locker room. 

The Beavers and Cougars both came out firing in the second half. Minot won the 3rd quarter 25-22 while shooting 64% from the field and 42% from the 3 point line. USF kept pace while shooting 62% from the field and 2-6 on 3 point attempts. The Beavers would continue their comeback in the 4th quarter as they held USF to 36% shooting from the field and 20% from behind the arc. Minot kept up their hot shooting going 3-7 from 3 and shooting 60% from the field. USF won the rebounding battle 36-29. The Cougars had 20 points in the paint and 18 points off of Beaver turnovers while Minot had 28 points in the paint and scored 27 points off Cougar turnovers.  

LEADERS

Kami Wadsworth paced USF in scoring with a game high 24 points. Danielle Minsaas was also in double figures for scoring with 11.

Madison Wuebben led USF in rebounding with 6. Wadsworth and Minsaas each added 5 rebounds as well.  

Wadsworth also led the Cougars in assists with a career high 6. Minsaas, Brecli Honner, Kylie Wroblewski, and Brooklyn Harpe each added 2 assists. Wadsworth also played a game high 38 minutes.
