Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Women's Basketball team fell to Minnesota State tonight 82-55.
The Cougars jumped out a lead early thanks to some scorching hot offense. The Coo shot 61% from the field and went 4-6 from behind the 3 point line. The Cougar defense started well too as MSU shot 40% from the field and went 1-4 from 3. The Cougars won the first quarter 20-16, but MSU took the 2nd quarter 24-15. The Mavericks shot 50% from the field and 33% from the 3 point line while holding USF to 40% shooting from the field and went 3-7 from the field. MSU took a 40-35 lead into the halftime break.
The Coo again came out hot from the locker room, but MSU still took the 3rd quarter 19-13. The Mavs shot 44% from the field and 20% from the 3 point line. USF shot 54% from the field and went 1-1 from 3. MSU took control in the 4th quarter holding USF to only 7 points while scoring 23 points to win the game. MSU shot 40% from the field and 2-7 from the 3 point line. The Maverick defense held USF to 15% shooting from the field and 11% shooting from behind the 3 point line. The Mavericks had 48 points in the paint, 32 points off of Cougar turnovers, and 32 points off the bench.
LEADERS
Danielle Minsaas paced USF in scoring with 14 points. Ayla Brown had 12 and Kami Wadsworth chipped in 10 points.Â
Minsaas also led the Cougars in rebounding with 7. Wadsworth added 5 and Brecli Honner chipped in 3 boards.
Minsaas and Wadsworth each had a career high 4 assists to lead USF in that category. Brown and Minsaas played 33 minutes to lead the Coo which is a career high for Minsaas. Â

The Cougars will be back in action Friday February 9. They will be in St. Paul, Minn. to take on Concordia-St. Paul starting at 7:30PM in the Gangelhoff Center.
