Green and Adam Claim Individual Titles at Grand View Open

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - USF Women's Wrestling headed south to compete in the Grand View Open today coming away with seven place winners on the day, two of which claimed the titles in their weight class.

At 101-pounds, Ava McNeal opened the day with a 1:08 pin over Leilani Milla of Snow College before pinning Patience Okemba of Ottawa University in 1:23 to advance to the semi-finals. McNeal fell to Dutchess King of Indian Hill CC in a 0:20 fall followed by a 1:35 fall to Jennifer Thomas before placing 5th on the day with a 1:24 pin over Alex Uribe. McNeal is now 13-5 on the season.

Paw Hobza fell to Rachel Jones of Snow College at 109-pounds in a 1:45 pin after receiving a bye the first round. Hobza advanced in the consolation bracket after receiving a forfeit by Madison Leverknight of Indian Hill CC before defeating Nina Zimmermann in a 4:06 pin. Hobza fell to Melbourne Earl in a 3:00 pin to finish 2-2 on the day and 12-9 on the year.

Paige Denke opened the day with a bye at 116-pounds before defeating Ruby ScarBorough of Avila University in a 0:47 pin. She picked up a 12-1 tech. fall over Ranie Paulin to advance to the semi-final round for the Coo. Denke fell to Trinity Pendergrass in a 10-0 tech. fall to go on and claim 3rd with a 10-0 tech. fall over Samantha Memmott. Denke moves to 11-4 on the year.

At 123-pounds, Rei Ogden defeated Taylor Hood of Midland University in a 3:41 pin after receiving a bye in the opening round. After receiving a win by forfeit, Ogden advanced to the semi-finals to take on Aniyah Dinwiddie. With a 10-0 tech. fall loss in the semis and a 0:56 fall to Hood later on, Ogden went on to claim 5th place with a forfeit by Jimena Serna.  Ogden moves to 25-9 on the season.

Teila Peters took down Jaclyn Riedinger of Avila in an 11-0 tech. fall before defeating Bella Hernandez of Minot State in a 4-3 decision. Peters advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Ivey Partin in a 14-4 tech. fall.  Peters fell in a 0:55 pin to Bronwyn Brenneman before defeating Willow. Dubois in a 1:40 fall and taking 4th with a 3-2 decision loss to Brooke Cicierski. Peters is now 17-10

Mackenzie Armagost also competed at 130-pounds for USF picking up a first round 1:58 pin over Maria Sanfiel of North Iowa before defeating Chloe Taylor in a 3:55 pin. Armagost fell to Sarah Trunnel of Snow College in a 0:47 pin before being knocked out of the tournament by Willow Dubois in a 5:52 fall. Armagost moves to 10-12 on the year.

At 136-pounds, McKenna Hendrickson opened the day with a 4:32 pin over Hallie Carter of Snow College before falling to Jasmine Hopkins of Quinicy University in an 8-2 decision. In the Consolation bracket, she defeated Tatian Encinas, unattached, in a 4-3 decision before defeating Abbigail Smith of Indian Hill CC in a 4:53 fall. Hendrickson fell to Alexis Ross in a 10-0 tech. fall and finished the day 3-2 and 11-12 on the year.

Brinley Green topped William Woods' Gretchen Marriott in a 10-0 tech. fall before defeating Nevaeh Briggs of Indian Hill CC in another 10-0 tech. fall. Green advanced to the semi-final round with a 7-4 decision over Kammie Schanz of Iowa Central. Green went on to record a 5-0 decision victory over Abby Rhodes to make it to the championship match where she would capture the title with an 11-0 tech. fall over Nayeli Maston. Green is now 17-9 on the season.

Cianna Grate also competed at 143-pounds for Sioux Falls today picking up a first round 4:49 pin over Sarah Lewis of Indian Hill CC followed by a second round 1:27 pin over Yana Paskar of Waldorf University. Grate also advanced to the semi-final round with a 2:30 pin over Reagan Wonnell of Baker University. Grate Fell to Nayeli Maston in a 5-4 decision followed by a 4:44 fall to Haleigh Lematta and a 4:19 fall to Reagan Wonnell finishing sixth on the day. Grate is now 10-10 on the year.

Zoe Adam picked up a first round win over Nevaeh Harst with a 1:40 pin before securing a 1:04 pin against Madison Parson of Minot State. Adam tabbed a 12-1 tech. fall in the semis over Isabella Canada before claiming the 191-pound title with a forfeit by Tiffany White. Adam currently sits 22-5 on the year.
