Auburndale, FL. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team took the final game of the series with Minnesota Crookston 10-4. USF uses a 5-run top of the 9th inning to blow the game open.
Owen Weadge got the start for the USF today and backed up his NSIC Pitcher of the Week nod with another solid outing. He went 5.0 innings giving up 4 runs with 3 of them earned. He also recorded 6 strikeouts on the day. The Cougar Bullpen was lights out today as they went 4 innings of shutout baseball. Derek Lundgren was the first one out of the Bullpen and went 1 inning. Zachary Shastay came in next and threw 2.0 innings and picked up 2 strikeouts. Logan Anderson finished the game off with 1 inning pitched and 2 strikeouts recorded.
The Cougars at the plate scored runs sporadically throughout the game before an outburst of 5 runs in the top of the 9th. USF was led by Noah Christenson who had 3 hits, a stolen base, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI. David Swanson and Mitch Iliff each had 2 hits on the day. Iliff scored 2 runs and had 3 RBI while Swanson had 1 of each. Tyler Cate, Brady Klehr, and Ben Serie each picked up 1 hit for the game. Serie scored 3 times in the game.
