USF Baseball Splits with Duluth

Bonner's Walk-Off Single Wins it for USF in Game 2

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team split a doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth today. UMD defeated the Cougars in game 1 8-5. USF won 7-6 on a walk-off single by Isaac Bonner in the bottom of the 10th.

 

GAME 1

 

Reese Gaber got the start for USF and went 5.0 innings. He gave up 7 earned runs, 7 hits, and 6 strikeouts. Myles Rees came in from the USF Bullpen and threw 2.0 innings. Rees gave up 1 hit, 1 earned run, and 2 strikeouts.  

 

At the plate, USF was led by Noah Christenson who had 2 hits. Noah went 2-3 and had 2 RBI. Tyler Cate, David Swanson, Brady Klehr, Mitch Iliff, and Zach Andreason each recorded 1 hit. Swanson, Dane Small, and Iliff each had an RBI as well. Overall USF had 7 hits, 5 RBI, 1 walk, 7 strikeouts, and 5 left on base.

 

GAME 2

 

Jake Ammann got the start for USF and went 6.2 innings. He gave up 4 hits and 4 earned runs. The USF Bullpen combined to allow only 1 run for the rest of the game. Zachary Shastay, Derek Lundgren, and Logan Anderson all came on in relief and did not give up a run. Garrett Oswald gave up the lone run from the Cougar Bullpen.

 

At the plate, USF was led by Tyler Cate, Ben Serie, Noah Christenson, and Isaac Bonner each had 2 hits on the day. Bonner's single in the 10th inning won the game for USF. Serie and Brady Klehr tied for the lead in RBI with 2 a piece. David Swanson and Dane Small each had 1 hit for the Cougars. Swanson and Serie both scored 2 runs as well.

 

UP NEXT

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow. They will host Minnesota Duluth again in a doubleheader starting at 12:00PM. Both games taking place at Sioux Falls Stadium.
