Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team split a doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth today. The Cougars took game 1 6-5 on a Dane Small walk-off single. Duluth took game 2 thanks to a 7-run 7th inning to take the lead and win the game.
GAME 1
Brady Baur got the start for USF and went 5.0 innings. He gave up 6 hits and 3 earned runs while picking up 4 strikeouts. Mason Leonard, Logan Anderson, Derek Lundgren, and Zachary Shastay each threw 1.0 innings out of the USF Bullpen. Anderson gave up 2 earned runs. Shastay picked up the win and 3 strikeouts in his 1 inning of work.
At the plate, USF was led by a host of Cougars. Tyler Cate, Brady Klehr, Dane Small, Ben Serie, Mitch Iliff, Ryan Gouldin, and Isaac Bonner each had 1 hit. Small's single in the 9th inning won the game for USF as his hit scored Cate. Gouldin scored 2 runs for USF. Klehr and Bonner each had 2 RBI to lead the Cougars. Overall, USF had 7 hits, 5 RBI, 9 walks, 4 strikeouts, and 7 left on base.
GAME 2
Owen Weadge got the start for USF and went 6.0 innings. He allowed 7 hits but only 2 earned runs and picked up 5 strikeouts. Jake Pruchniak came in to relieve Weadge and threw 0.2 innings giving up 3 hits, 7 runs, and 3 walks. Jack Richeson also came in from the USF Bullpen and threw 0.1 innings and gave up 1 hit.
At the plate, USF was led by Ryan Gouldin. Gouldin went 3-4 with a homerun, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI. David Swanson and Ben Serie both had 2 hits on the day with Serie hitting a homerun in the 7th inning and Swanson stole a base. Serie and Swanson also tied with Gouldin for the team lead in RBI with 2. Tyler Cate, Brady Klehr, Mitch Iliff, and Noah Christenson each had 1 hit on the day. Overall USF had 11 hits, 8 RBI, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 6 left on base.

The Cougars are back in action on Friday. They will begin a 4 game series with Northern State with a single game on Friday March 22. All games will be played at Sioux Falls Stadium.
