Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team swept a doubleheader against Northern State today. In game 1, Reese Gaber carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning leading USF to a 3-1 victory. USF used another solid pitching outing from Jake Ammann and hot bats to take game 2 6-2
GAME 1
Reese Gaber got the ball to start for USF and went all 7 innings. He carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning and gave up only 1 hit all game. He allowed 1 earned run and recorded 8 strikeouts. He picked up the win to move to 3-2 on the season.
At the plate, USF was led by David Swanson and Noah Christenson. Each had 2 hits for the game and Swanson scored 2 runs as well. Brady Klehr and Dane Small each had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Overall, USF had 6 hits, 3 RBI, 1 walk, 6 strikeouts, and 4 left on base.
GAME 2
Jake Ammann got the start for USF and went 7 innings. He gave up 4 hits and 1 run which was unearned. Ammann gave up only 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts. Derek Lundgren came in from the USF Bullpen and gave up 1 unearned run and 1 walk. Garrett Oswald also came on in relief from the Cougar Bullpen and did not give up a run in 1 inning of work. Oswald also picked up 2 strikeouts.
At the plate, USF was led by Tyler Cate who had 2 hits. David Swanson, Brady Klehr, Ben Serie, Dane Small, and Noah Buss each picked up 1 hit for the game. Swanson scored 2 runs for USF and Serie had a game high 2 RBI. Small, Klehr, Swanson, and Cate each had 1 RBI as well. Overall, USF had 7 hits, 6 RBI, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, and 2 left on base.
UP NEXT
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow. They will take on Northern State again in a doubleheader starting at 1PM. These games will be taking place in Ralston, NE due to the forecasted weather conditions in Sioux Falls.
