SIOUX CENTER, IOWA - Cougar Softball fell to Minot State in an NSIC doubleheader tonight. USF dropped game one 6-2 and game two 8-0 moving to 9-14 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
GAME 1 - L, 6-2
With a big 5-run inning by MSU in the top of the first, USF struggled to bounce back before adding 2-runs in the bottom of the third when Emma Barta scored Meghan Jochimsen and Riley Schwisow scored Kenzie Raymond.
Alannah Naumann and Raymond led the Coo at the plate, each with two hits during game one. Naumann recorded the teams lone triple while Raymond had a double.
Maddi Duncan started in the circle for USF throwing .2 innings before Bailee Lampman came in on relief. Lampman threw 2.2 innings giving up just one run in 13 batters faced. Campbell Petrick closed out game two with a solid 3.2 innings allowing no runs, one strikeout and just three hits in 15 batters faced.
GAME 2 - L, 8-0
Both teams went back-and-forth before the Beavers broke through with 3-runs in the third and 4 in the fourth before recording their final run in the top of the sixth.
Madison Grant recorded the teams lone hit in game two after coming in to pinch hit in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Olivia Ott got the start for the Coo throwing 2.2 innings with two strikeouts in 14 batters faced. Kate Kotlarz faced six batters this evening with one strikeout and one hit. Petrick returned to close out game two with three strikeouts in 13 batters faced.

The Cougars will be back in action tomorrow evening when they take on UMary at 8 & 10pm inside the American State Bank Sports Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa.
