Auburndale, FL. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team fell to Minnesota Crookston today. UMC defeated USF 11-1 in the Cougars first game in Florida.
Reese Gaber got the start for USF tonight and went 4.0 innings. He gave up 7 hits and 7 runs but only 2 of those runs were earned. He also picked up 4 strikeouts and gave up only 1 walk. Derek Lundgren came in from the Cougar Bullpen and threw 1.0 innings of shutout baseball. He gave up a walk but had 2 strikeouts in his lone inning of work. Jake Pruchniak also came out of the Bullpen and he went 1.1 innings giving up only 1 hit but 4 earned runs. Reed Barnard also threw 0.1 innings and had 3 walks and a strikeout.
The Cougars struggled at the plate all day. Jake Osowski of UMC threw 6 innings of shutout baseball giving up only 2 hits and recording 5 strikeouts. USF was led at the plate by 3 different Cougars who recorded a hit. Each Cougar hit was a double with David Swanson, Brady Klehr, and Tyler Cate each recording a hit. Swanson picked up the lone USF RBI and Cate scored USF's only run. Overall the Cougars had 3 hits, 1 RBI, 4 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 8 left on base.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow. They will take on Minnesota Crookston in a doubleheader beginning at 2:45PM CT in Auburndale, FL.
