SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Cougar Softball falls to Augustana 8-0 and 12-1 in a midweek matchup falling to 16-21 on the year and 7-9 in conference play.
GAME 1 - L, 8-0
Sioux Falls struggled to get the bats going in a game one, 5-inning matchup resulting in a perfect game for Augustana's Grace Glanzer.
The Cougar defense battled through 3-innings giving up just one run before the Vikings tacked on five runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to seal the game.
Olivia Ott got the start for USF, throwing 3.0 innings while facing 15 batters and forcing one ground out and eight fly outs before Campbell Petrick came in on relief to throw 2.0 innings with two strikeouts while facing 13 batters.
GAME 2 - L, 12-1
After a shutout inning by both teams in the first, Augie struck first with runs in the second and third innings before adding four runs in the fourth to make it a 6-0 game.
Megan Lawson gave USF their first run of the game when Madison Grant was walked with the bases loaded before the Vikings came back to close out the game in 6-innings.
Three Cougars recorded hits in game two behind Alannah Naumann in the first, Emma Barta in the third and Hannah Fry in the fourth. USF left six runners stranded in game two.
Maddi Duncan threw 4.0 innings for the Coo with five strikeouts in 22 batters faced before Kate Kotlarz closed the game out with 2.0 innings pitched and two strikeouts in 14 batters faced.
UP NEXT
The Cougars will hit the road to take on Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State this weekend and will return home April 27-28 to host Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul.
