Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team was swept by Augustana today. The Vikings won game 1 9-0 and game 2 6-4.

GAME 1 - L 9-0

Jake Ammann got the start for USF and went 4.0 innings. He allowed 6 hits and 6 earned runs. He had 2 walks and recorded 5 strikeouts in his outing. Derek Lundgren and Dylan Immel both threw 1 inning out of the Cougar Bullpen in relief of Ammann. Lundgren gave up his first earned runs of the season. He allowed 2 hits, 1 walk, and 3 earned runs. Immel shut down the Vikings in his inning of work, not allowing a run and striking out all 3 batters he faced. 

At the plate, the Cougars were held in check by the Viking pitching staff. Noah Christenson and Zach Andreason each had 1 hit for the game which led USF. Overall, the Coo had 2 hits, 0 RBI, 2 walks, 12 strikeouts, and 5 left on base. 

GAME 2 - L 6-4

Jake Pruchniak got the ball first for USF in game 2 and had a very solid outing. He went 5 innings and allowed just 2 hits and a run. He had 3 walks and picked up 5 strikeouts while facing 20 batters. Mason Leonard, Zachary Shastay, Logan Anderson, and Garrett Oswald combined to finish out the game from the USF Bullpen. Leonard threw 0.2 innings and gave up 2 hits and 2 earned runs. Shastay came in next and did not allow a hit but did allow 2 walks and an earned run to score. Anderson threw 1 inning and gave up 2 earned runs and 3 walks. Oswald finished the game off going 0.2 innings and not allowing a hit or a run. 

At the plate, USF came alive a bit in game 2. Led by Tyler Cate and Dane Small who each had 2 hits. Cate also scored a run and Small had an RBI. Ben Serie, Brady Klehr, and Noah Christenson each had 1 hit. Klehr paced USF in RBI with 2. Overall, USF had 7 hits, 4 RBI, 3 walks, 13 strikeouts, and 8 left on base.

UP NEXT

The Cougars are back in action this weekend as they host Minot State for a 3 game series. The Cougars and Beavers will play a doubleheader on Saturday April 13 and a single game on Sunday April 14. The games will start at 1:30PM on Saturday and 12:00PM on Sunday and all games will be played at Sioux Falls Stadium.
