Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team split with Minot State in a doubleheader this afternoon. The Cougars took game 1 8-3 and Minot took game 2 9-3.
GAME 1 - W 8-3
Reese Gaber got the start on the mound for USF and had a strong start. He went 5.2 innings giving up 2 earned runs, 4 hits, and 4 walks. Gaber also picked up 4 strikeouts. Derek Lundgren came in to relieve Gaber and went 0.1 innings. Lundgren did not give up a run and only allowed 1 hit. Garrett Oswald finished the game off with a scoreless inning of work. Oswald picked up 2 strikeouts in his 1 inning of work.
At the plate, the Cougars were led by Tyler Cate, Isaac Bonner, and Zach Andreason. Each had 2 hits for the game. Cate and Andreason each scored 1 run and had 2 RBI. Bonner scored 3 runs. Ben Serie, Brady Klehr, and Noah Christenson each had 1 hit for the game. Serie had 2 RBI as well. Overall, USF had 9 hits, 7 RBI, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts, and 3 left on base.
GAME 2 - L 8-3
Brady Baur got the ball first for USF and threw 3.2 innings. He gave up 7 hits and 5 runs while picking up 3 strikeouts. Mason Leonard came on in relief and threw well going 3.1 innings. He gave up 2 hits and 1 run while recording 5 strikeouts. Dylan Immel threw 1.0 innings after Leonard and gave up 2 runs and 1 hit. Zachary Shastay also threw 1.0 inning and gave up 1 run on 1 hit.
At the plate, USF was held in check for most of the game. The only runs the Cougars scored were in the bottom of the 6th inning. David Swanson led USF in hits with 2. Tyler Cate, Dane Small, Brady Klehr, Noah Christenson, Ryan Gouldin, Isaac Bonner, and Zach Andreason each had 1 hit. Small, Ben Serie, and Klehr scored USF's runs and Gouldin and Bonner had 1 RBI each. Overall, USF had 9 hits, 2 RBI, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 11 left on base.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow. They will host Minot State again in a single game starting at 12:00PM. This game will be played at Sioux Falls Stadium.
