WAYNE, NEB. - Cougar Softball completes the series sweep against Wayne State with an 8-3 game one win and a 5-0 shutout victory in game two.
GAME 1 - W, 8-3
USF got the bats hot in game one and never looked back. With three runs in the top of the 2nd off the bats of Emma Barta and Alannah Naumann.
The Coo added one in the 3rd when Damaris Cuevas doubled to left center and three in the 4th when Riley Schwisow scored Naumann and Taryn Wagner went yard with a 2-run homer to right field.
Cuevas singled up the middle in the 6th to score Schwisow to give USF an 8-0 lead headed into the bottom of the 6th.
Naumann, Cuevas and Hannah Fry each tallied two hits for the Coo in game one while Barta paved the way going 3-for-4 at the dish.
Maddi Duncan threw a complete 7.0 inning game for USF while facing 32 batters and forcing five flyouts and 10 groundouts with six strikeouts in game one.
GAME 2 - W, 5-0
Sioux Falls kept it rolling in game two when they shutout the Wildcats for Campbell Petricks second shutout of the season.
Fry was walked with the bases loaded to bring in Megan Lawson before advancing to second on a wild pitch while Wagner crossed the plate.
Barta doubled down the line to score Fry and Amber McKinny to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the 4th.
Lawson scored Schwisow on a ground out to second to give the Coo a final score of 5-0.
Petrick picked up her second shutout of the season and the week with a 7.0 inning outing in game two. Petrick faced 32 batters while forcing 10 flyouts, seven groundouts and four strikeouts.
OVERALL

Barta once again paved the way at the plate going 4-for-7 on the day with a double and three RBI while crossing the plate once

Cuevas and Wagner tallied two RBI on the day for the Coo

Petrick picked up another shutout win with a 0.00 ERA and four strikeouts on the day

Duncan secured the game one victory with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings pitched

Altogether the staff recorded 10 strikeouts while averaging a 1.93 ERA and giving up just 3-of-4 earned runs

Sioux Falls will return home to close out the regular season against Winona State on April 27 at 1 & 3pm four their annual Mental Health Awareness Game and Alumni Day, followed by Concordia-St. Paul on the 28th at 1 & 3pm for their Senior Day celebration.
