Sioux Falls, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Baseball team picked up a win today. They defeated Dakota Wesleyan 13-7 in a single game played Sioux Falls Stadium
Jake Pruchniak got the start for USF on the mound today and threw 3.2 innings. He gave up 5 hits, 3 runs with 2 of them being earned, 4 walks, and picked up 5 strikeouts. Jack Richeson came on in relief and picked up the win for USF. He went 2.1 innings giving up 2 earned runs and picking up 4 strikeouts. Tyler Maeyaert came in next to throw 2.0 innings and only gave up 1 run while recording 3 strikeouts. Johnny Checheris finished off the game throwing 1 inning. He gave up 1 earned run and recorded 2 strikeouts. Overall, the USF pitching staff picked up 14 strikeouts on the day.
At the plate, USF was led by Tyler Cate and Ben Serie. Both had 3 hits on the day. Cate also scored 3 Cougar runs. David Swanson picked up 2 hits on the day to go along with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Brady Klehr, Ryan Gouldin, Zach Andreason, and Mitch Iliff each had 1 hit. Klehr led USF with 3 RBI. Overall, the Cougars had 12 hits, 11 RBI, 6 walks, 3 strikeouts, and 9 left on base.

The Cougars are back in action this weekend. They will host Bemidji State in a 4 game series being played in Sioux Falls. Game 1 is Friday starting at 1:30PM and all games will be at Sioux Falls Stadium.
