NSIC Championship day 2: Cougars show improvement and break 5th place tie

BLUE SPRINGS, MO - The USF Men's Golf team closed out round 2 of the NSIC Championship today. Mason Weeks jumps to 7th.

The Coo improved as a team with their 13 over, 301 on day 2. The 5 stroke improvement from day 1 gave the team a total 607, 31 over, for the tournament with one round to play.
 
USF broke the 5th place tie from day 1 and now sits 3 strokes away from 4th place. 
 
USF individual results:
 
Mason Weeks jumped up to 7th after his great second round. Weeks shot a 73 to go 1 over par for the day. He sank an eagle on hole two along with 3 birdies and 5 pars as he led the Cougars through a solid day 2.
 
Gavin Metz rebounded slightly after day 1 with a 5-over 77 that put him in a tie for 30th. He made 3 birdies and 8 pars in round 2.
 
Jimmy Clark also tidied things up as he shot 6 over par at 78. A birdie and 10 pars rounded out his day with him tied for 38th.
 
Jack Kray fell back in the standings slightly but still shot a solid 76 to close the day at 4-over. He birdied once and sank par on 13 holes to land tied for 13th.
 
Devon Verhasselt had a much better day today as he closed out a 3-over 75 round. He carded 2 birdies and 11 pars in round 2 as he closed the day in 28th.
