BLUE SPRINGS, MO- The USF Men's Golf team finished the NSIC Championship yesterday in 5
th place.
The Coo hung around in 5
th for the majority of the tournament and ultimately held the spot over their surging rivals who finished just 1 stroke behind them.
Mason Weeks continued to lead the Cougars, as he had done for a large part of the year, ultimately finishing tied for 9
th. As a team the Cougars shot 45-over par at 909 (306-301-302). USF was 11 strokes from a 3-way tie in 3
rd and held onto their lead over 6
th place Augustana by 1 stroke.
Individual performances:
Mason Weeks spearheaded the Cougars effort with a 5-over 221 (74-73-74) that landed him in a 3-way tie for 9
th place. Throughout the tournament he sank 39 par shots, made 5 birdies and even collected an eagle in round 2.
Devon Verhasselt played the best tournament of his USF career as he exited the course in 16
th place. His outing included a total 9-over score of 225 (79-75-71) consisting of 8 birdies and 29 pars.
Jack Kray finished tied for 26
th at 15-over par with a total 231 (74-76-81). He made 39 shots for par and also sank a birdie.
Gavin Metz ended tied for 29
th. His 16-over 232 (79-77-76) included 27 pars and 8 birdies.
Jimmy Clark closed out the season with a 39
th place finish on 26-over par shooting. His 242 (81-78-83) consisted of 3 birdies & 28 pars.
