BURNSVILLE, MINN. – The USF Men's Golf team earned its first Golfer of the Week honors from the NSIC in a release today.
Senior
Mason Weeks put together two fantastic rounds at the Fall Brawl on Monday and Tuesday as he won the event. The field of 76 golfers was no match for Weeks as he carded a 1-under opening round followed by an even second round to slip past the 3-way time in second. The Spirit Lake, Iowa native rode consistent play to 28 pars and 5 birdies with only 3 of 36 holes not resulting in an even or better score. His performance kept the Cougars in the mix after day 1 despite leaving the course in 8
th. The crowded field between 4
th and 8
th gave the Coo a chance to polish their game and slide into 6
th out of 13 before the second day closed.
Mason was named NSIC Preseason Golfer of the Year prior to this season after consistently leading the Cougars during the 2023-24 season. Last season he placed 9
th at the NSIC Championship which earned him First Team All-Conference honors. Weeks was also named USF Athlete of the Week in October of last year for his great performance at the Watkins Invitational. This individual victory marks the 2
nd of his USF career and the award is his first Golfer of the Week of his career.
