Cougar Football to Host (RV) Bemidji State for the First Time since 2021

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - (RV) Sioux Falls (3-0, 2-0 NSIC) will host the (RV) Bemidji State (2-1, 1-1 NSIC) for the first time since 2021 for their annual Military Appreciation and Youth Day game. This game marks the 7th match-up between the two programs dating back to 1982 with the Cougars holding a 4-3 record over the Beavers.

QUICK HITS: USF is coming off of a 35-33 win over UMary to advance to 3-0 on the season for the first time since 2022...Following last weeks win, Nick Hernandez moved into 19th on the all-time scoring chart with 127 PATs and 27 field goals totaling 208 career points while also sitting 5th in kick scoring...Carter Slykhuis climbed the charts as he now sits 8th in receiving with 1,754 yards and 7th in receptions with 155...After connecting for four scores, Camden Dean now sits 13th in passing touchdowns with 23. 

MATCHUP HISTORY: Sioux Falls holds a 4-3 record over Bemidji State dating back to 1982 when Sioux Falls College took the 14-12 victory...Since entering the NCAA Division II era, USF is 3-2 against BSU, but has fallen to the Beavers in their last two matchups, 25-21, in 2018 and, 24-16, in 2021...The Cougars largest win came in 2014 when USF thumped BSU 52-19 for a road win...Sioux Falls is 3-1 at home against the Bimidji and has outscored the Beavers 161-152 in their seven matchups.

THE LAST TIME: The Cougars hosted the Beavers at home fore their 2021 season opener falling 24-16...Adam Mullen recorded his first career touchdowns with 165 yards of total offense combined with a score through the air and on the ground...The Cougars combined for 352-yards of total offense and found most of their success in their run game with 193 rushing yards...Bemidji State ultimately found success through the air against USF with 310 passing yards.

PREGAME TIDBITS: USF is currently outscoring their opponents 103-56 while finding an even spread of offense both in the air and on the ground...The Cougar defense has only given up 12 rushing first downs this season and has been led by Matt Goehring, Andy Henson and Garret Hoffman...Goehring leads the team with 18 tackle, a tackle for a loss of 4-yards along with one interception, pass break-up and QB hurry...Henson adds 17 tackles with three tackles for a loss of 11-yards and a sack for a loss of 7-yards along with a forced fumble while Hoffman adds 14 tackles, a pass break-up and a recovered fumble...Connor Aldrich and Joseph Sapp each have multiple pass breakups on the year.
