SIOUX CENTER, IOWA - The University of Sioux Falls Softball team opened their season with a doubleheader at the American State Bank Sports Complex's dome, facing #11 Northwestern College and Doane University. Despite strong individual performances, the Cougars dropped both contests, falling 7-1 to Northwestern and 6-4 to Doane.
GAME 1: USF v #11 NORTHWESTERN - L, 7-1
Sioux Falls kept the game scoreless through the first three innings, but Northwestern broke through with a five-run fourth inning, capitalizing on timely hitting and walks. The Cougars' lone run came in the sixth, courtesy of a solo home run by Kyra Knudtson marking the team's first of the season.

GAME 2: USF v DOANE - L, 6-4
The Cougars took an early 4-1 lead in the second inning, led by Meghan Jochimsen's two-run double and Hanna Raethz's RBI single. However, Doane responded with a three-run third inning to tie the game and added two late runs to secure the win. Despite a solid effort from Lauryn Foudree (0-1) in the circle, Doane's pitching held USF scoreless after the second inning.

The Cougars (0-2) will look to bounce back tomorrow as they take on Concordia (Neb.) and Dordt tomorrow at 12pm and 4pm respectively.
