SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Sioux Falls women's soccer team (6-6-1, 4-5-1 NSIC) returns home for an important Northern Sun weekend, hosting the University of Mary Marauders on Friday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. and the Minot State Beavers on Sunday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at Bob Young Field in Sioux Falls.
The Cougars are coming off a weekend split, dropping a hard-fought 1-0 rivalry match to Augustana before storming back for a 2-1 Senior Day win over Wayne State. Junior forward Addison Van Zee scored both goals in the comeback, breaking the program's NCAA Division II single-season and career scoring record with seven goals. The victory also marked the Cougars' sixth of the year — the most wins in a single DII season in program history.

Scouting the University of Mary (5-5-3, 3-4-3 NSIC)
UMary has surged late in the season, winning three of its last four, including dominant home wins over Wayne State (7-0), Augustana (2-0), and Jamestown (5-0).
The Marauders bring a balanced attack, led by #6 Dina Polanco (8 goals, 2 assists) and #24 Olivia Gardner (7 goals). Together, the duo accounts for over half of UMary's 26 goals on the year. Between the posts, #1 Kadyn Dilger owns a 0.91 goals-against average and six shutouts through 11 matches.
UMary averages 2.0 goals per game while holding opponents to just 1.0 — a strong mark that ranks in the NSIC's top half.
Scouting Minot State (5-5-3, 5-2-3 NSIC)
Minot State enters the weekend unbeaten in its last three NSIC contests, highlighted by road wins over Wayne State (3-2) and Jamestown (5-0). The Beavers have turned their season around after a slow start, now sitting in the middle of the NSIC standings with postseason aspirations in reach.
Offensively, #13 Anna Miotto (6 goals, 5 assists) and #9 Sabrina Amezcua (5 goals, 1 assist) drive a potent front line that has produced 23 goals through 13 matches. Goalkeeper #12 Rebecca Sargent anchors the backline with a .806 save percentage and five wins.
Minot averages 1.77 goals per game while conceding 1.69, but has been especially sharp defensively during its recent unbeaten stretch.
Coach's Corner
Head Coach Joe DeMay on this weekend's matchups:
"It's hard to believe we're already at our final home weekend. It feels like the season has flown by. We're right in the middle of the NSIC tournament race, and with both UMary and Minot fighting for the same thing, these games will have plenty of intensity. Both teams come in with their attacks in form, so we'll need to be sharp defensively. But that's the kind of challenge we set out for at te start of the season, meaningful matches with a lot on the line, in front of our home crowd.
