USF Volleyball Takes Down No. 21 Minnesota Duluth, 3-1, in Third Top-25 Win of the Season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball team continued its late-season surge with a 3–1 victory over No. 21 Minnesota Duluth inside the Stewart Center today, winning 25-27, 25-19, 25-21 after dropping the first set 25-17. With the victory, the Cougars move to 15-9 overall and 10-6 in NSIC play. The result also marks USF's third win over a nationally ranked opponent this season — and their fifth win over teams who are either ranked or receiving votes this fall.


Match Summary

After dropping the opening set, the Cougars battled through a highly competitive second frame before taking full control in sets three and four behind elite blocking and balanced scoring. USF hit .311 as a team and stacked up an impressive 17 team blocks - tied for second in program history - including six in both the first and second sets, while limiting the Bulldogs to just .189 hitting on the afternoon.


Cougar Leaders

  • Ella Walker was nearly unstoppable at the pin — finishing with 14 kills on .684 hitting and five blocks for 17.0 total points.

  • Sadie Voss added 14 kills, a team-high 17 digs, and three blocks for 16.5 points.

  • Haley Wolfe was a force at the net with 10 kills on .588 hitting and a team-high 10 total blocks - tying the programs single 4-set match record set by Jordan Calef in 2015

  • Tatum Godinez posted 10 kills and four blocks on the right side.

  • Elise Gillen and Liz Kopp combined for 43 assists, while Gillen delivered three aces to spark multiple scoring runs.

  • Maci Lerseth chipped in 10 digs, two aces and nine assists in a balanced two-setter system.


Statement Win

With today's victory, USF continues to cement itself as one of the most underrated and dangerous teams in the NSIC — especially against top-tier competition. The Cougars now own wins this season over No. 8 SMSU, No. 17 SMSU, and now No. 21 Minnesota Duluth — plus wins over two additional opponents who were receiving votes in the national poll.


Up Next

Cougar Volleyball hits the road next weekend to take on Jamestown and No. 22 Northern State. Both matches are scheduled for a 6pm start time Friday and Saturday night.
