MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – USF Men's Wrestling closed out the Augsburg Invite with three placers led by Jordon Oehme, Luke Swanson and Cooper Sanders. 

"It was a tough day for us," stated head coach Matt Meuleners. "We dropped some early matches and allowed it to impact our confidence on the backside of the brackets. We just need to show more resilience when things don't go our way early. There were still some bright spots, but overall it's time to regroup and refocus as we head into duals."

At 141-pounds, Jordon Oehme took second while going 3-1 on the day. Oehme opened the day with a 17-1, 5:38 tech fall over unattached Mason Nelson followed by a 1:14 pin over Minnesota State's Connor Crumer and a 5-1 double overtime win over Augsburg's No. 5 Cole Becker before falling in a 16-1, 5:14 tech fall to No. 3 Pierre Baldwin of Central College to advance to 9-4 on the season. 

Cooper Sanders took home a third place finish at 157-pounds. Sanders started the day with a 5:00 pin over Johnson & Wales' Vincent Fladetta followed by a 5:39 pin over Upper Iowa's Collin Altensey before falling to to Augsburg's No. 11 Karsen Otis in a 5-1 decision. Sanders responded with a 6:56 pin over Augsburg's Brady Swanson to finish 3-1 on the day and advance to 11-3 on the season. 

At 165-pounds, Luke Swanson finished 3-1 with a second place finish. Swanson opened the day with a 6:10 pin over Upper Iowa's Nick Mueller followed by a 17-1, 6:55 tech fall over Damon Ferguson of MSU Moorhead and a 10-3 decision over Paulo Salminen of Minnesota State before falling in a heartbreaking 7-6 decision to Augsburg's No. 2 Cooper Willis. Swanson moves to 10-3 on the season.

UP NEXT

The Cougars will return home for home opener against No. 12 Minnesota State on December 5th at 7pm in the Stewart Center followed by the USF Triangular on December 13th against Concordia-Moorhead and Briar Cliff. Sioux Falls will then host No. 18  Northern State on December 19th before the New Year.
