MINOT, N.D. – The USF Women's Wrestling program continued their two day stint in Minot today as a part of the Beaver Bash Open. Out of 12 wrestlers the Cougars landed seven placers on the day highlighted by Brinley Green-Griffin, Johanna Steinlicht, Kylie Hulse and Zoe Adam each claiming event titles.
"After a strong dual day yesterday, we looked forward to seeing how our team would respond back in an open tournament setting," stated head coach Griffin Osing. "Even though it was a smaller open, we had good battles with great wrestlers. Now, it's time to get back to work and heal up while preparing for our final three competitions before the New Year."
At 110-pounds, Paw Hobza advanced to the championship match with an opening round win over Saskatchewan's Kyre Thompson via a 2:43 fall before defeating Bismarck State's Alyvia Ruiz in an 11-0, 1:44 tech fall. Hobza fell to No. 11 Rylee Balcazar of Chadron State in a 1:31 fall to finish 2-1 on the day and move to 7-6 on the year.
Abby Wilfong competed at 117-pounds today going 4-2 on they day. Wilfong opened the day with a 1:02 fall over Rebekah Anderson of Dickinson State before falling to Adrianna Lopez of Chadron State in a 10-0, 2:08 tech fall. Wilfong battled back with a 1:07 fall over Kaylei Hinck of Dakota Wesleyan and a 1:18 fall over Baylee Turner of Saskatchewan before falling to Shania Wear of Chadron State in a 4:17 fall to advance to the fifth and sixth place match. Wilfong defeated Anderson again in a 14-8 decision to take fifth and advance to 7-6 on the season.
Brinley Green-Griffin went a perfect 2-0 on the day with a 3:49 fall over Lovey Beebe of Minot followed by a 14-4, 6:00 tech fall over Alexis Lavers of Saskatchewan at 138-pounds. Green-Griffin shared the 138-pound title with teammate Johanna Steinlicht to move to 8-2 on the season.
Also at 138-pounds, Johanna Steinlicht went a perfect 2-0 with a 10-0, 1:47 tech fall over Kaytlin McAnelly of Dickinson State and a quick 12-0, 0:28 tech fall over Tiara Faehnrich of Dakota Wesleyan to share the 138-pound title with teammate Brinley Green-Griffin and advance to 10-2 on the season.
At 145-pounds, Ciana Grate finished 2-2 with a fifth place finish. Grate fell to Haleigh Lematta of Minot State in a 12-0, 3:31 tech fall before responding with a 1:41 fall over Paisley Jaeger of Dickinson State. Chadron State's Eliza Davis defeated Grate in a 0:46 fall, but Grate landed a 0:40 fall over Minot's Chloe Parsons to take fifth and move to 5-5 on the season.
Wrestling unattached at 160-pounds, No. 16 Kylie Hulse added another title to her resume going 3-0 on the day. Hulse started with a 10-0, 1:50 win over Taebyn Tulp of Saskatchewan followed by a quick 10-0, 1:15 tech fall over Olivia Anderson of Dickinson before taking the title via forfeit by Kayla Bednarcik of CAT Town Wrestling Center to move to 7-0 on the season.
No. 15 Zoe Adam picked up her first title of the season at 207-pounds. Adam opened the day with a 4:01 fall over No. 14 Aniya Herbin of Minot State followed by a 1:58 fall over Isabella Urias of Dickinson and a 10-0, 2:20 tech fall over Jamestown's Celia Jaeger to finish 3-0 on the day and advance to 9-3 on the season.

USF will return home Wednesday, December 3rd to host Bismarck State and Dakota Wesleyan in the USF Duals at the Stewart Center. Duals will start at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.
