Cougar Volleyball Sweeps No. 22 Northern State; Voss Becomes USF's All-Time Kills Leader

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The University of Sioux Falls Volleyball team closed out its regular-season road slate in statement fashion, earning a booming 3-0 sweep (25-19, 28-26, 25-21) over No. 22 Northern State this evening inside Wachs Arena. The win marked USF's fourth victory over a nationally ranked opponent this season, improving the Cougars to 17-9 overall and 12-6 in NSIC play.

The night was also historic for senior outside hitter Sadie Voss, who became USF's all-time career kills leader with 1,282 following her 17-kill performance, surpassing Makenna Rockeman's record of 1,273 held since 2018.

Match Summary

The Cougars came out sharp and confident, hitting .515 in the opening frame and never trailing to take a 25-19 win. In the second, USF clawed back from multiple set points to edge Northern State 28-26 behind clutch kills from Voss and Abby Haus. The Cougars finished the sweep with a steady 25-21 victory in set three, closing the match with nine aces and eight total blocks while limiting the Wolves to a .245 hitting percentage.

Cougar Leaders

As a team, Sioux Falls hit .311 with 56 kills, 9 aces, and 8 total blocks, while holding Northern State to 36 kills and a .245 efficiency.

Historic Milestone

With 1,282 career kills, Sadie Voss now stands alone atop the University of Sioux Falls all-time kills leaderboard, surpassing every Cougar before her. The Lakefield, Minn. native has been a four-year cornerstone for the program and has helped elevate USF to one of the NSIC's most competitive, yet underrated, teams.

Up Next

The Cougars return to the Stewart Center next weekend for the regular-season finale, hosting Minot State Friday night at 6 p.m. before closing against UMary on Saturday at 2 p.m. for senior day.
