USF Women's Wrestling Closes out Grand View Open

DES MOINES, IOWA – The USF Women's Wrestling team competed in the Grand View Open today with four wrestlers competing in the "Gold" bracket and nine in the "Silver" bracket. 


GRAND VIEW OPEN – GOLD 

117 – Rei Ogden went 1-2 on the day with a 0:55 pin over Nadia Alejandres of Oklahoma City University. Ogden fell to Lindsey Lopez of Fort Hays State and Shammilka Miranda of Cumberlands to move to 15-8 on the year. 

124 – Paige Denke went 1-2 for The Coo with a 5:37 pin over Amanda Durrant of Waldorf. Denke fell to Lexie Lopez of Fort Hays State and Markayal Lottie of Avila moving to 7-8 on the season. 

124 – Teila Peters dropped two matches on the day to Ava Rose of Iowa and Isla Baeza of Missouri Valley moving to 12-8 on the year. 

207 – Zoe Adam finished the day 1-2 with an 8-5 decision win over Manusiu Muti of McKendree before falling to Katja Osteen of Iowa and Karla Padilla of Cumberlands. Adam moves to 10-8 on the season. 


GRAND VIEW OPEN – SILVER 

103 – Ava McNeal went 0-2 on the day falling to Chasey Karabell of Indian Hills and Lillian Hackworth of Missouri Baptist. McNeal moves to 6-6 on the year. 

110 – Paw Hobza went 0-2 on the day falling to Hinda Doucoure of Indian Hills and Zoey Mzeru of Jamestown moving to 4-8 on the season. 

117 – Lanna Walter finished 2-2 on the day with her first win over Rebecca Di Silvestro of Carthage College in a 0:35 pin and a 10-0 tech fall over Brynn Miller of Grand View. Walter fell to Larhae Whaley of Dickinson State and Ariah Mervilus of Indian Hills moving to 7-8 on the year. 

131 – Mackenzie Armagost was they Cougars leading scorer with a 4-2 outing. Armagost started hot with a 1:15 pin over Zoey Smith of Cumberland before falling to Aileya Sath of Baker University. Armagost went on a 3-0 run with a 2:34 pin over Ivy Davis of Fort Hays State, a 1:23 pin over Jill High of York and a 0:47 pin over Hadley Boshart of Wartburg before falling in her final match to Amaria Ridgner moving to 15-10 on the season. 

138 – Diann Smith went 3-2 with a 1:35 pin over Brooklyn Foster of Friends University, a 0:47 pin over Chase Kiel of Missouri Valley and a 1:31 pin over Esther Hughes of Central College. Smith fell to Lindsay Henggeler of Betterman Elite Wrestling Academy and Aspen DeHerrera of Wayland Baptist to move to 10-10 on the year. 

145 – Ciana Grate went 3-2 with a 12-0 tech fall over teammate Aliyah Villarreal, an 11-0 tech fall over Kaytlin McAnelly of Dickinson State and a 2:02 fall over Alimatu Toheeb-Lawal of Morton College. Grate fell to Meridian Snitker of Ellsworth CC and Valeria Rodriguez of Quincy to move to 10-12 on the season. 

145 – Addaly Pals-Miller went 3-2 with a 10-0 tech fall over Kiara Dixon of Simpson, a 10-0 tech fall over Addy Pasley of William Wood and a 2:14 pin over Zayla Vann of Life University. Pals-Miller fell to Valeria Rodriguez of Quincy and Meridian Snitker of Ellsworth CC to move to 6-13 on the year. 

145 – Aliyah Villarreal went 0-2 with losses to teammate Ciana Grate and Zayla Vann of Life University to move to 2-3 on the season. 

160 – Maizy Mathis went 2-2 on the day with an 11-1 tech fall over Izabelle Nelson-Carrillo of Carthage College and a 12-2 tech fall over Lauren Hill of Baker. Mathis fell to Abby Piper of William Woods and to Leah Willard of Jamestown to move to 9-9 on the year.

USF will close out the regular season at the Warrior Open in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday, February 8 with matches starting at 10am.
