SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Athletics Department has announced a leadership transition within its softball program, appointing Madie Brink as the new interim head coach, effective immediately.

With considerable softball and collegiate athletic experience, Coach Brink brings a strong commitment to leadership, player development, and competitive excellence. As the team moves forward, she will work closely with student-athletes to ensure a smooth transition and continued success for the program.

"We are confident in Madie's ability to lead our team during this transition. Her experience, leadership and dedication to our program will ensure continuity and keep us focused on our goals for the season," stated Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jon Hart. "This is a great group of student-athletes and I look forward to Madie's impact in this role."

Brink steps into the position following the recent resignations of Erin Bly and Bryce Bly.

"We are grateful for the contributions both Erin and Bryce gave to USF Softball," stated Hart. "Their impact has been valued, and we wish them nothing but the best in their career endeavors."

As a former assistant softball coach for USF in 2023, Brink helped produce four NSIC All-Conference athletes, one NSIC Player of the Week and one NFCA All-Region athlete. In the classroom, USF softball was represented with seven NSIC Team of Excellences recipients, seven NSIC All-Academic Team members, five CSC Academic All-District honorees and the 2023 NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year. On the field, Brink helped oversee hitting and outfield development while helping lead the Cougars to a program best season batting average of .312 while setting programs records with 95 doubles and a .941 stolen base percentage.

Prior to USF, Brink earned an M.Ed. in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington while gaining invaluable experience as a graduate assistant with Husky Softball  while working under legendary head coach, Heather Tarr.

A native of Pierre, South Dakota, Brink brings over six years of collegiate athletic experience to USF. As a student-athlete at Presentation College, she transitioned into coaching as the assistant softball coach and served as the college's student Sports Information Director, graduating with honors in 2020 with a B.S. in Sport & Event Management and a minor in Coaching.

Brink and University leadership are working to finalize additional softball staffing which will be announced in the coming days.

Near the conclusion of the season, a national search will be conducted to find the next head coach.
