Cougars Secure First Win in Brink Era During Series Split with UMary

BISMARCK, N.D. - The University of Sioux Falls Softball team picked up its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) win of the season, defeating the University of Mary 6-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader. The victory marks the first NSIC win under Interim Head Coach Madie Brink , as the Cougars (13-11, 1-1 NSIC) look to build momentum in conference play.

GAME 1: USF 6, UMARY 1

Behind a dominant pitching performance from Maddi Duncan, the Cougars took control early and never looked back. Duncan went the distance, striking out 10 batters while allowing just one run. Hannah Soderbeck led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate, while Morgan Linstad and Jaeleigh Darnell each delivered extra-base hits to power USF to their first conference win of the season.

GAME 2: UMARY 4, USF 2

USF battled in the second game but fell just short despite a strong outing from Lauryn Foudree, who allowed just one earned run over six innings. Hanna Raethz and Morgan Linstad each drove in a run, but UMary capitalized on Cougar errors for a three run fourth inning.

The Cougars (13-11, 1-1 NSIC) will look to build on their first conference win as they continue NSIC play at Minot State tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 11am with game two to follow.
