CLERMONT, FLA. - USF Softball (12-10) closed out its Florida trip falling 3-2 in extra innings to Slippery Rock before dropping a high-scoring battle against Wayne State (MI), 10-9. The Cougars finished the Spring Games with an impressive 11-7 record and now stand at 12-10 overall as they return home for conference play.
GAME 1: SLIPPERY ROCK 3, SIOUX FALLS 2 (8 Innings)
In a tightly contested pitchers' duel, Maddi Duncan turned in a stellar performance, striking out 10 batters over eight innings. The Cougars took a 2-1 lead in the fifth after an RBI double from Taryn Wagner, but Slippery Rock capitalized on a late extra-inning opportunity to secure the win.

GAME 2: WAYNE STATE (MI) 10, SIOUX FALLS 9
In a wild offensive showdown, USF totaled 16 hits but fell just short in the final inning. Meghan Jochimsen and Kyra Knudtson added three-hit performances while Hannah Soderbeck added a single shot in the the top of the first. Despite taking an early 7-2 lead, Wayne State rallied late to secure the win.

UP NEXT
With a strong showing at The Spring Games, the Cougars (12-10) will shift their focus to NSIC play as they prepare for their conference opener on March 22nd at the University of Mary. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00pm.
