SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – University of Sioux Falls sophomore Kami Wadsworth has earned a spot on the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Third Team for NCAA Division II women's basketball, capping a historic season with one of the nation's highest honors. Previously named to the CSC Academic All-District Team this spring, Wadsworth stood out among nominees to become one of only 15 student-athletes selected nationwide and one of three from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
The CSC Academic All-American award recognizes excellence in academics, athletics, and community service. Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher, and compete in 90 percent of their team's games or start in at least 66 percent. Wadsworth, an Elementary Education major with a perfect 4.00 GPA, excelled in all areas, balancing a record-setting season with impactful community involvement.
Wadsworth started all 31 games for the USF Cougars, playing 968 minutes (31.2 per game) and rewriting the program's NCAA Division II record books. She scored 585 points, the most in a single season during USF's D2 era, averaging a program-record 18.9 points per game. Her efficiency was remarkable, shooting 48.3% (214-443) from the field, 44.9% (31-69) from three-point range, and 86.3% (126-146) from the free-throw line, with her 126 made free throws and 146 attempts also setting USF D2 records. Wadsworth reached double figures in scoring 29 times, hit 20+ points in 12 games, and scored 30+ twice, including a career-high 31 points on 13 made baskets in the season finale against Northern State.
"Kami's work ethic and commitment, both in the classroom and on the court, are truly remarkable," said Head Coach Travis Traphagen. "This recognition reflects her ability to excel in every facet of being a student-athlete."
Wadsworth's community service further distinguished her candidacy, embodying the CSC's holistic criteria. As one of just 15 Division II women's basketball players named Academic All-American, her selection highlights her as a premier student-athlete and elevates the profile of USF and the NSIC.
