Cougars Sweep Dragons to Open Weekend Series on the Road

MOORHEAD, MINN. – USF Softball (19-17, 7-7 NSIC) continued their strong conference push with a doubleheader sweep of MSU Moorhead (12-29, 4-10 NSIC) this afternoon. Behind dominant pitching from Maddi Duncan and Lauryn Foudree, and a timely home run by Alannah Naumann, the Cougars earned a 2-4 win in game one followed by a 2-0 shutout in game two.


GAME ONE: SIOUX FALLS 4, MSU MOORHEAD 2

The Cougars struck first with a home run from Alannah Naumann and added two more in the fifth to secure the sweep. Duncan held the Dragons in check for her 13th complete game of the season.

Key Performers:

USF took control with a two-run fourth and added insurance in the fifth, while Duncan escaped a sixth-inning jam to shut the door.


GAME TWO: SIOUX FALLS 2, MSU MOORHEAD 0

Sioux Falls broke through in the fourth inning when Hannah Soderbeck got the inning started with a double to center before Morgan Linstad singled to left. Following a costly Dragon error, Soderbeck stole home while Linstad advanced to third before being brought in by Kyra KnudtsonLauryn Foudree was lights out in the circle with a four-hit shutout.

Key Performers:

Foudree recorded just her second complete game of the season and her first shutout of the year.


UP NEXT

The Cougars (19-17, 7-7 NSIC) head to Aberdeen, SD to take on Northern State tomorrow afternoon. First pitch against the Wolves is scheduled for 12pm with game two to follow around 2pm.
